Weight Loss Success Stories From Women With Busy Careers

Coached by Eva Robles, online weight loss coach and founder of A Cup of Fitness.

These weight loss success stories are from real A Cup of Fitness clients. They are women with busy careers, like nurses, teachers, officers and business owners, and at least 23 of the 35 women on this page are moms. All of them were coached online. Their results run from 8 to 101 lbs lost. The stories below show a before and after photo for 18 of the 20 women.

A Cup of Fitness is Coach Eva Robles' online weight loss coaching for women with busy careers.

How we count each result

Each result is the weight she lost on the scale. We start from her first weigh in after she joined and count to her lowest weigh in since then. Both numbers come from her own weigh ins in the Trainerize app, and we round down to the whole pound. For five of the women (Denise, Mariana, Sonia, Dulce and Cindy), the result is the one we shared on Instagram. Dulce's is body fat lost, not scale weight. Some of these women still coach with us and some have finished. We show first names only.

What did these women do to lose weight?

The plans in these stories are built from the same few pieces:

  • A flexible meal plan built around foods she enjoys
  • 2 to 4 workouts a week, often strength training at home
  • A daily step goal
  • A weekly check in with her coach

Weight loss for nurses and women on long shifts

These 3 women work in health care and corrections, and they lost from 18 to 56 lbs with our online coaching.

How Jessica, a corrections officer and mom of 2, lost 56 lbs

Jessica before and after, lost 56 lbs

Jessica is a corrections officer on 12 hour shifts and a mom of 2, and she lost 56 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. Before, she had tried keto, low carb and meal replacements, and she would quit after a week or two. When she joined, she was nervous about failing, because nothing had ever lasted.

What worked: a flexible meal plan she enjoyed, 2 to 3 strength workouts a week at home to start, and a daily step goal. Now she can do push ups and still has energy after a workout.

“I can go work out and not feel exhausted the rest of the day.”

How Joyce, a nurse and mom of 2, lost 20 lbs after her second baby

Joyce before and after, lost 20 lbs

Joyce is a nurse and a full time working mom of 2, and she lost 20 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. After her second baby, her body did not change, even though she was already working out. She did not need to do more. She needed a clear plan.

What worked: a flexible meal plan around foods she enjoys, more daily movement and workouts focused on getting stronger. She did it with a one year old at home.

“I really thought I had to give up carbs and my favorite dessert, ice cream, to lose the weight.”

See Joyce's story on Instagram

How Allison, a registered nurse, lost 18 lbs after having a baby

Allison is a registered nurse and a mom, and she lost 18 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She was back at work with a baby under one and had barely 20 minutes a day for herself.

What worked: 3 home workouts a week of 20 to 30 minutes, early in the morning or at nap time. She used a daily step goal instead of cardio, a flexible meal plan with exact portions so she was not guessing, and a weekly check in. She fit back into the clothes she wore before her pregnancy, and she did it while traveling for the holidays and still enjoying birthday celebrations.

“…the biggest win is feeling stronger and more confident!”

Weight loss for teachers and school staff

Cynthia and Silvia work in schools, and they lost 41 and 35 lbs with our online coaching.

How Cynthia, an assistant principal and mom of 2, lost 41 lbs with online coaching

Cynthia before and after, lost 41 lbs

Cynthia is an assistant principal and a mom of 2, and she lost 41 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She worked long hours Monday to Friday and kept her weekends for family. She was not sure about online coaching, because she had always needed an in person class to stay accountable.

What worked: easy meals with foods she enjoys, 3 to 4 short strength workouts a week at home, a daily weigh in and a weekly check in to look back on her week. She gets up at 5 am to train, the only time of day that is hers. She reached her goal weight.

“I really want to make it more of a lifestyle, and it doesn’t feel like a diet, so that’s been great.”

How Silvia, a preschool teacher and mom, lost 35 lbs eating carbs

Silvia before and after, lost 35 lbs

Silvia is a preschool teacher and a mom, and she lost 35 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. Her days were packed with teaching, mentoring other teachers, commuting and family. She used to diet with keto and fear carbs, and every diet worked for a while before the weight came back.

What worked: nutrition first, then 3 workouts a week and more daily steps, with a 4th workout once her energy came back. Later she lifted weights to build strength. Now she eats carbs, enjoys food in moderation and came home from a vacation without gaining the weight back.

“I was really hesitant at first when I heard about Eva’s program. It’s online, but I was totally wrong.”

How to lose weight while traveling for work

Lisa travels for work and lost 24 lbs with our online coaching. Eliana, in the table above, also travels for work and lost 20 lbs.

How Lisa, a mom who travels for work, lost 24 lbs

Lisa before and after, lost 24 lbs

Lisa travels for work and is a mom of 2, and she lost 24 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She works full time, commutes, handles school drop offs and pick ups, and often has work meetings over meals out. As a former gymnast and cheerleader, she knew her old ways of staying in shape no longer fit her life as a mom. She wanted more energy and to feel strong enough to keep up with her kids.

What worked: home workouts to get stronger and a plan made ahead of each travel week, so her meals out still fit her plan. She lost the weight while still eating out at work meetings and traveling for business.

“One of the most sustainable parts of the program is: the nutrition did not feel like I had to give up too many things. It was small shifts, but that made it something that wasn’t scary or with an expiration date on my inspiration.”

How to lose weight with a desk job

These 6 women work at a desk, in an office or from home, and they lost from 14 to 101 lbs with our online coaching.

How Karina, a working mom with a desk job, lost 101 lbs

Karina before and after, lost 101 lbs

Karina has a desk job, works remotely and is a mom, and she lost 101 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She was a busy working mom who felt she never had the time. She said two things had held her back: no accountability, and not knowing enough about nutrition and portion sizes.

What worked: home workouts she could fit into her day, weekly check ins to keep her accountable, and learning that she could eat any food in moderation. She stayed consistent and reached her goal.

“Since joining ACF, I’ve learned to eat way better, making it a lifestyle vs diet mindset. Believing in myself, not giving up.”

How Nicole, a first time mom with an office job, lost 34 lbs

Nicole works a corporate office job and is a mom, and she lost 34 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. As a first time mom, she put her son first and herself last. She was exhausted, not eating well and hardly moving, and she wanted to be a healthy role model for him.

What worked: nutrition first, plus 4 workouts a week: 2 quick 20 minute home workouts on weekdays and 2 longer sessions of 45 to 60 minutes on the weekend. Now she makes time for herself.

“Honestly the biggest thing I have gained is getting rid of my all or nothing mentality. I struggled with that my whole adult life.”

How Mariana, a county office worker, lost 30 lbs without cutting out her favorite foods

Mariana before and after, lost 30 lbs

Mariana works in administration for her county, and she lost 30 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She had tried diet after diet, and every plan cut out her favorite foods, so she craved them even more. She was used to fast food and never cooking, and she was not sure she could stay consistent.

What worked: smaller portions of the foods she loves, like Hot Cheetos and chocolate, plus workouts she could finish and check ins so she kept going when it got hard. She still eats carbs and has meals off her plan, and she even lost weight through the holidays.

“The biggest thing that surprised me was the fact that I was still able to enjoy the foods and the snacks that I enjoy.”

How Gina, an office worker, lost 28 lbs with a desk job

Gina before and after, lost 28 lbs

Gina is an office worker with a hybrid schedule, and she lost 28 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She sat at a desk all day, skipped meals to get more work done, and then the hunger hit the second she got home. After gaining weight during Covid, she started to think this was her new normal. She wore black to the office because she did not feel confident in anything else, and she avoided pictures.

What worked: a plan she could stick to, without giving up her favorite foods. She proved to herself that she can follow through. Now she wears color to work, speaks up more and takes the pictures.

“Feeling happy when I look at myself in the mirror. It’s the confidence that I can do it!”

See Gina's story on Instagram

How Sonia, a mom of 3 with a desk job, lost 20 lbs

Sonia before and after, lost 20 lbs

Sonia has a full time desk job, goes to school full time and is a mom of 3, and she lost 20 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. Time felt limited, and she was tired of trying to figure it out alone. At first, even losing 10 lbs seemed impossible to her.

What worked: a meal plan with foods she enjoys, 3 to 4 workouts a week depending on her schedule, and 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day. She smiles at herself in the mirror again.

“My biggest win has been truly learning to love myself and my body.”

How Allyse, a VP who works from home, lost 14 lbs

Allyse before and after, lost 14 lbs

Allyse is a VP of communications who works from home, and she lost 14 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She had been an athlete most of her life and had tracked macros and followed strict meal plans. After a move and other life changes, her routine disappeared and comfort eating crept in. She felt she had to do everything perfectly, with 6 workouts a week that no longer fit her life, and that all or nothing mindset kept her stuck.

What worked: strength training 4 times a week, meals built around food she enjoys, and a plan with room for eating out, travel, weekends and a missed workout.

“Feeling better in my own skin again.”

Weight loss for busy moms and business owners

Most of these women are busy moms, and two run their own business. Seven of them lost from 20 to 58 lbs with our online coaching, and Dulce lost 13 lbs of body fat.

How Yesenia, a mom, lost 58 lbs and stopped yo yo dieting

Yesenia before and after, lost 58 lbs

Yesenia is a mom, and she lost 58 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She used to lose weight with very small meals, protein shakes and lots of cardio. She tried so many things, and the weight would go down and then go back up.

What worked: balanced meals on a meal plan she could stick to, holding herself accountable, and lifting weights, which she found out she loves. She passed her goal of 50 lbs, and she knows what to do to keep the weight off.

“With you, I learned how to stick to my meal plan and eat balanced meals. I learned to stay accountable to myself, and I discovered I LOVE to lift weights.”

How Denise, a busy mom of 2, lost 50 lbs after a year of working out and not losing weight

Denise before and after, lost 50 lbs

Denise is a busy mom of 2, and she lost 50 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. For a full year, she did more workouts and more cardio and tried to eat better, and she stayed stuck. A long week often turned into a weekend of treats and extras.

What worked: 3 to 4 home workouts a week, a daily step goal, 4 balanced meals with protein and a plan she could keep through the weekend.

“I really tried for a whole year on my own and did not see any progress.”

How Barbara, a bartender and grandma, lost 43 lbs with home workouts

Barbara before and after, lost 43 lbs

Barbara is a bartender, a mom of 3 and a grandma, and she lost 43 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She wanted to be active for her new granddaughter. Food was her biggest struggle: she did not know how to make meals she liked, and fast food was the easy choice. She did not know what workouts to do either, and she once thought 20 lbs was her limit.

What worked: meals she enjoys and quick home workouts 2 or 3 times a week. She has more energy now, and on walks around the park, her fiancé gets tired before she does. She celebrated with her first photoshoot.

“I was really surprised that I did lose the weight, but I was also surprised at everything that I gained. I gained a lot of confidence.”

How Beth, a business owner and mom of 4, lost 36 lbs after years of yo yo dieting

Beth before and after, lost 36 lbs

Beth is a business owner and a mom of 4, and she lost 36 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. She came to us after years of yo yo dieting, with 4 kids and a full time schedule.

What worked: learning to strength train the right way, eating for her goals without restriction, and check ins that kept her going when she wanted to quit. She no longer hides from the camera, and she started her own juicing business after her fitness journey.

“Working with Eva and the program has been life changing for me, and I cannot believe I am where I am now.”

How Erica, a business owner and mom of 2, lost 35 lbs with meal planning

Erica before and after, lost 35 lbs

Erica is a business owner and a mom of 2, and she lost 35 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. Her routine changed every week, and she believed consistency was not possible for her.

What worked: a plan that fits her life, started in the middle of the holidays, with food she loves and easier meal planning. We focused on consistency, not perfection. Now she has the energy to get through her day, she is in control of her habits instead of stress eating, and she joined the gym with confidence.

“My biggest accomplishment is that meal planning has become easier to do. Not only do I eat healthier, but my family does too.”

See Erica's story on Instagram

How Jobanna, a working mom of 3, lost 23 lbs by fixing her weekends

Jobanna before and after, lost 23 lbs

Jobanna is a medical billing supervisor and a mom of 3, and she lost 23 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. Before, she was working out 5 days a week and still not losing weight. She got up before her kids to train and chased 10,000 steps a day. She ate breakfast on the go at school drop offs and used her lunch break for pick ups. Weekends, full of family plans and sports, were her biggest struggle.

What worked: not more workouts, but a plan built for her busy weekends, so she did not have to choose between her goals and her family. Now she no longer feels out of control on weekends.

“Biggest accomplishment is finally feeling better in my own skin.”

See Jobanna's story on Instagram

How Cindy, an Amazon Live host and mom, lost 20 lbs with less cardio

Cindy before and after, lost 20 lbs

Cindy hosts Amazon Live and is a full time working mom of a toddler, and she lost 20 lbs with A Cup of Fitness. On camera, she reviews outfits in front of thousands of people, and behind the camera she did not feel good in her body. She spent her first 3 years as a mom trying to feel confident in her body again. She used to rely on lots of cardio and eating less.

What worked: lifting weights instead of lots of cardio and eating less. She got stronger and more consistent, and she is still getting stronger.

“This is working. I feel great. I feel so optimistic and feel amazing!”

How Dulce lost 13 lbs of body fat with strength training

Dulce before and after, lost 13 lbs

Dulce is an A Cup of Fitness client, and she lost 13 lbs of body fat with us. For years, she quit every program after 6 to 8 weeks because she did not see results.

What worked: strength training. She started with 2 lb dumbbells for her upper body and worked up to 10 lbs, even though heavy weights scared her at first. Fitness went from a chore to something she looks forward to, and she has stayed consistent far past 8 weeks. Now she proudly wears skirts that show her muscle definition.
